Home Ventilation and Heating Components

A house is made up of sub-components that work with each other to form one integrated system. The performance of each component depends on the relationship with other components in this same system.

Our home ventilation and heating components, the construction materials being used, the behaviour of the people living in the house, and a change of any one of them affects all other components.

Changing one of these components in our house without considering how it will affects the other components and the entire house system can waste lots of energy and money in our pocket.

Lets take a moment to think about the system in our house and examine how we can create efficiencies to save us money and help our environment, lets go green:

  • By investing in a high efficiency furnace is a great idea, but it will have to run a lot longer if we have poor weatherstripping around our windows and doors, and insufficient insulation in walls and attic. So, investing with this type of furnace, we should also invest in proper air sealing and increase our insulation level. Doing this next investment, we will surely notice a great savings in our budget.
  • Buying a new high-efficiency windows still won’t prevent condensation problems inside the house if they are improperly sealed or insulated upon installation, or humidifier on the furnace has not been adjusted properly, or kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans are rarely used or are improperly ventilated.
  • A properly functioning home incorporates air tightness and good ventilation. We should test our house system by contacting a certified EneryGuide energy advisor. These advisor will makes sure that all recommended upgrades will make our house components integrate each other properly, ensuring the health and safety of our family and the well being of our home.
