Control the Untidiness Through OrganizationWhether we live in a small apartment or a huge house, it’s always surprising to realize just how little storage space we seem to have! The more space we have, the more possessions we accumulate. And the passage of the years doesn’t help either. If it’s easy to amass a multitude of belongings, clothes and memorabilia, it represents a real challenge to keep everything in order. No matter what the origin of each trinket we possess and whether it’s useful or not, storage problems are caused by an inability to manage the available space and the sheer volume of what has to be stored. If the truth be told, it really doesn’t make much difference if we have a lot of storage room or not. The first step in gaining control over this untidiness is to sort it out, overcome our attachment to things and to take concrete action: give away, throw away, recycle and keep as little as possible. The second step is made easier by the fact that a lot of those assorted objects have gone. Now we just have to group articles by category and decide how much space is required to put everything in its proper place. The things we use on a regular basis should be stored in easily accessible places, such as cabinets and drawers. Those things which we only use occasionally should be put away, by category, in well-identified containers or storage areas. There is a huge range of accesories and containers available nowadays, designed expressly to facilitate storage even in the tiniest of apartments. Cupboards, closets, every kind of box, shelves, drawers, and rods are just a few examples. With a good storage system all that clutter can disappear. 1 comment to Control the Untidiness Through Organization |
